Seven places to get the best wings in Macon

When I was younger, I didn’t appreciate a good chicken wing. Now that I’m older, I’m making up for lost time by eating at as many wing restaurants in Macon as possible. During my journey, I have discovered that some eateries remain superior to others. I’ve listed my top seven favorite wing restaurants here in Macon.

7. Moon’s Wings & Seafood

While the prices aren’t as good as Papa’s, you get the same mom-and-pop feel from this place. The wings are inconsistent in size. But the variety of flavors and speed of the restaurant are outstanding. This is a great quick bite for Maconites and Mercerians alike.

6. Buffalo Wild Wings

You can’t go wrong with a classic, iconic chain restaurant known for their wings and beer. The restaurant has specials on Tuesdays and Thursdays and various specials during popular sports events. They have tons of sauces to choose from so you can change it up every visit.

5. Hooters

This place is an American classic for chicken wings. The location in Macon isn’t always busy, but it is consistent. The flavors are pretty basic, but all still good in taste. You can order your wings smoked, original (battered and fried) or naked. Their drink menu is also a nice plus.

4. Wing Stop

Although this is a chain restaurant, it’s still a solid and respected choice when searching for some chicken wings. The prices, however, aren’t the most favorable. But, if you want the same level of quality every visit, you’ll get it here. Their consistency is impeccable and I’m here for that. Rick Ross endorses Wing Stop.

3. Buffalo’s Cafe

This restaurant is best known for its Tuesday night wing special where traditional and boneless wings are 55 cents a piece. The wings are always decent in size and very well cooked. The sauces are good, but there aren’t a ton of options. They make up for it though with their amazing curly fries. I can’t help but order them every time.

2. Francar’s Buffalo Wings

This restaurant is a classic for any Mercer student or Maconite. With over 30 sauces to choose from, there’s a little something for every type of wing eater. The lunch specials are perfect for anyone looking for a quick, cheap bite. The restaurant also has a ton of sides to choose from to go with your wings.

1. Papa’s Wing & Seafood

There is just something about a mom-and-pop style restaurant that makes things so much better. Papa’s is a down-home place where you always feel welcome. They also have all sorts of specials for lunch and altogether good prices. My favorite special is an order of ten wings, fries and a soda for $9.99. You just can’t beat that.
