Want to eat and give back to the community at the same time? Then mark your calendars for March 1.

Rebuilding Macon Inc. is holding their second annual Macon’s Cookin’ fundraising event at The Blacksmith Shop on March 1 from 7-10 p.m.

According to Rebuilding Macon Inc.’s website, their mission is to provide great food to help fund its goal to repair and rehabilitate houses for low-income Macon homeowners. The organization has a special focus on helping the elderly and disabled.

For $50, you will be able to enjoy an arrangement of food from popular Macon restaurants like The Bear’s Den, Bonefish, Amici, The Casserole Shop, and Piedmont’s Brewery and Kitchen. There will be live music, a silent auction and raffle.

Katie Durden, the development director of Rebuilding Macon, Inc., said 100% of the proceeds are directed toward funding Rebuilding Macon’s goal and that this year they are hoping to increase ticket sales.

Durden said last year’s Macon’s Cookin’ exceeded their expectations and that this year they will have more to offer. There will be more silent auctions items and greater variety. Durden said last year they had a guitar soloist, but now there will be a full band.

“We really want to establish a solid annual fundraiser that can bring in money for this organization,” Durden said.

The event will be hosted at The Blacksmith Shop located on 665 Poplar St.
